Homeschool Lessons in an Egg

Hippy hoppy Easter just right around the corner. For some reason kids just love plastic Easter eggs, if its filled with special treats or just an empty egg. My kids play with them weeks after Easter.

This year I decided to do at least one lesson a day using eggs. My children are in two different grades. My daughter is in 5th grade. I decided to do writing topics and her spelling list in the eggs. She gets to pick her egg for the day for writing and her egg for the week for spelling. The writing topics and spelling words are about the month of April and Easter. A few ideas are "A tale of the April's fools joke" and "The bunny and an arrow".

My son is starting Kindergarten. I wrote his words on a paper and put one word in each egg. He will pick an egg each day and we will work on that word. Writing it, spelling it, reading it and maybe even making up a song about it.

Ideas for lessons in an egg:

Guess my shape- you can do basic shapes for your little ones or Geometry shapes for older kids.

Letter & sounds- Have your child tell you the letter and the sound it makes.

What number am I- for younger kids you can write a number and have them tell you the number or you can even put cute little easter/spring erasers in the eggs and they count them and tell you how many. For older kids you can do number riddles.

Money eggs- Write on paper different amounts and have your child put the correct amount in each egg.

Fraction matching egg game- write fractions that are equivalent to each other on the eggs and have your child match them

Telling time- draw the time and write the time on the eggs. Have your child match it.

Adjectives, nouns and verbs- write words on paper or on egg and have your child put the word in the right bucket

Animal acting game- If you want to get your kids to be creative put names of animals in the egg and they have to act out their animal

Get up and move- Exercising is important. You can put an exercise or a fun moving around activity on paper in the eggs and have them pick one a day

I hope you enjoy these ideas with your little ones. We will be starting this tomorrow.

Blessings,

April
