Fall is such a fun time of year to leaves changing, apple picking, pumpkin patches and of course Halloween. We love hands on learning and it's so much fun. The month of October each week will be a different fun theme. Below you will find lesson ideas for fall. Leaf week we will be learning all about leaves, different shapes of leaves, colors and why they change colors. Math with leaves:
We will be adding with real leaves outside and with leaf erasers from target. I found leaf trays at dollar tree for parties. If you write on them with dry erase marker it comes off the tray. I thought this will fit right into our leaf week. We will use the tray to write out our math problem then use our counters to work the problem out. Language Arts Leaves:
Right now we are working really hard on our sounds. Dollar tree has fake leaves. I wrote the alphabet on them. We will have an letter hunt games as my son finds the leaf letter we will say the sound. We will be reading Leaf Man and making a man out of leaves. Science with Leaves: We will be exploring leaves outside and going for a nature walk. We will watch a videos and read books on types of leaves and why they change colors. Sensory Play with Leaves:

Sensory leaf bag: Ziploc bag Water Confetti leaves Painter tape After you put everything in the bag tape the top of it close then tape to table or floor. Then they can push on the bag and play. Math with apples: We will be using apple erasers from target to workout our Math problems. We will be using a plan white board to write out our Math problems. Language Arts with apples:
I found a really cool apple alphabet sound game on Pinterest. We will also hide those apples and once he finds them we will say the letter sound. We will be reading Ten Apples on Top and doing an apple craft to go with it. https://pin.it/lpmyna6ees7n5n (apple game)
Science with apples: We will be learning parts of an apple with a real apple. Then visit a local apple orchard to learn how they grow and the types of apples. We will be doing a taste testing and guessing what kind of apple it is. Sensory Play with Apples: Apple sensory bin: Oatmeal Fake apples Little small play bowls Kids tweezers Math with Pumpkins: We will be adding with pumpkin candy corn and with pumpkin erasers from target. I found pumpkin trays at dollar tree for parties but using it as a dry erase board. Language Arts with Pumpkins: I picked up some foam sticker pumpkins from dollar tree. I wrote the alphabet on the pumpkins. We will be doing alphabet pumpkin hunt games as he finds them we will say the sound. Science with Pumpkins:
We will be learning parts of a pumpkin with a real pumpkin then off to the pumpkin patch to learn how pumpkins grow. Sensory Play with Pumpkins:
Pumpkin Sensory bin: Beans Small pumpkins or fake pumpkins(candy corn pumpkins) Pumpkin spice seasoning in a little bowl if you do not want it in the bin. Pumpkin Guts bag: Put pumpkin guts in a ziploc bag. My son will be playing with it and using a magnify glass to explore the pumpkin guts. The week of Halloween we will be reading Halloween books, doing fun crafts, adding with Halloween toys from dollar tree.
